Spring 2012 trends

Other then the obvious floral print, nudes, and basic bright colors the three trends I am looking forward to are : Bold prints, colored denim, and lace details.

Bold prints
On anything to sweaters to purses and shoes, bold prints are going to be seen all over the place. I would do a more simple bold print like the one pictured above paired with something simple like shorts or leggings.

Colored Denim
I love this color for this trend as well as bright blue I am excited because the only color of denim I have atm is white and I love them in the summer but have no other colors for any other season. Pair these with cute flats and a black or white tank top with another layer over top is what I would do.

Lace details
I love lace I think its super feminine and girly and is an easy trend to work into your wardrobe this spring. I like lace detailing on tops and dresses and in the rare case on skirts and to use as a layer over top of shirts.

Make up
There are a lot of interesting trends that are set for this spring and I am only really a fan of two that I will end up doing. Skin that glows and metallic eyeshadow because I go for a more natural make up look everyday the shadow I will probably try for my nights out.

Skin that glows
Highlighting and contouring your face shape will give your face an overall healthy looking glow that also looks natural.

Metallic eyes
This trend is directed in a more "mermaid" direction but I think that you can achieve it more subtly with using colors like gold and browns.

Foundation primers

I have been on the hunt for a new foundation primer for a really long time now so I have been sampling different ones. For now it has come down to these three:
1) Laura Mercier mineral primer
2) Smashbox photofinish
3) Avon Magix face perfector

This is my least favorite of the three simply because it does not give me the silky smooth sensation that the other two provide me with. I find it even a bit watery then creamy and that it would make my skin feel oily when I don't have oily skin. I would not recommend this type of primer for normal to combination skin types. I feel like this may be a good choice for someone who had very dry skin though!

For a regular size bottle of the Smashbox primer is quite pricey therefore going for the cheaper alternative with Avon is an easy choice for me.  I love this product though if I haven't had found the Avon product then I would suck it up and by the full size of this. It feels great on your skin and leaves your foundation looking flawless all day long. It is especially great for nights out or for times where you know you will be taking a lot of pictures. This with Make Up Forever's HD powder for a setting powder makes your skin look so good on camera.

I never would of thought that an Avon product would resemble a high end product so much as this one does to Smashboxs photo finish primer. The consistency of the product looks completely different once it is out of the packaging but it feels exactly the same ! What I love even more about this product is that is contains SPF 20 so if you don't wear a foundation that lacks it you don't have to feel bad about it !

Date night outfit ideas

Casual date night :
This is a Rebecca Minkoff 'Mini Mac' in electric pink ($206.96 CND), I think it is so perfect for a date night with your special someone. Its a great every season pop of color when paired with a more casual outfit and can defiantly be used as a statement piece.
Wildfox baggy beach jumper (108$ CDN) This jumper has very neutral colors and is something you can be comfortable in no matter what type of date your getting yourself into.I really enjoy this paired with the bag above!
I would pair black leggings or a pair of grey skinny jeans with this outfit. Since there is a lot going on up top I would keep everything else toned down.

ASOS Grey Skinny Jeans ($68.04 CND)
Paired with Kane Shiro found at Spring over the knee boot (On sale @ 69.99 CND)

As for nails I would go with Butter Londons Tea with the Queen, a very nice matte neutral color.

For a more dressed up look:

Belted peach dress from Lulus ($36 CND)
This color is very girly and a great cut that is showing off just the right amount of skin for a nice date. This dress defiantly looks best paired with a belt and gold jewelry of your choice.

ASOS Pyramid lock envelope clutch (26.86 CND) Just something simple and easy if you are going somewhere fancy I would avoid bringing along a big purse. This clutch is simple and classic which complements the outfit perfectly.

ASOS Passion peep toe court shoe ($39.39 CND)
Nude pumps work well with the color of the dress and clutch, the peep toe makes a great touch to the overall look.

Optional : Layering up if its chilly with a solid leather jacket

Vegan leather jacket from Lulu's ($93 CND)

For nails I went for Essie's Carry on from their recent winter collection, it gives a more finished look with this color.

More St.Ives lovin

Since winter has finally hit us with cold wind chills and whatnot I decided to pick up a facial scrub that is less rough on my skin and more moisturizing. This apricot scrub is exactly what I have been looking for and hopefully my skin will get the moisture is really needs right now.
I will always love my Aveeno body moisturizer , yet I wanted to try something new and I stumbled across this St.Ives one when I was searching for my facial scrub. It smells amazing and really gives you soft touchable skin which is what I need right now with our crazy weather! I defiantly recommend these two products if you are seeing more moisture in your skin care routines because of your expositor to dry cold weather.

Benefit Spring 2012 foundation

The last liquid foundation I was really drawn to was the NARS sheer glow about a year and a half ago and now Benefit has done the same! I am so excited to get my hands on this new product of theirs. This will be retailing 34$ and is launching in February online and March in stores. This foundation is loaded with great stuff for your skin as well as light to medium coverage that can be built up. I love that they have a good number of selection of shades its not too many or too little (9). I only been through a few of Benefits products and they tend to be either a hit or a miss but I feel like this will be a hit , I hope! The packaging looks amazing and I cannot wait to be able to test it out !!!!

Lip moisture

Sweet Mint was the first EOS lip balm I stumbled upon and I fell in love with it.
These are such a great product to keep hand in the cold months of winter so I went ahead and stocked up! These are a good size as well so that they don't get lost in your purse.

I just recently found Summer Fruit & Honeysuckle Honeydew and I highly recommend all three !

These are around 4$ but they are totally worth it, the application is much different then every other chap-stick. Leaves your lips super moisturized and the smells/tastes of them all are really great.
