My makeup story

♥  How old were you when you started wearing makeup?  & ♥ How did you get into makeup?
My best friend Hannah knew everything there was to know back in high school, yet I only experimented with eyeliner/lip gloss when I was 16/17 and never really picked up on anything else until a few years after that because I had really good skin that I took care of I didn't even bother to find out what foundation was until I was a few years out of high school.

♥ What are some of your favourite brands?
NARS, MAC, Maybelline,  Urban Decay, benefit

What does make-up mean to you?
No one is perfect and no one needs to hide behind a face full of make-up because that is not what the purpose of make-up is. Enhancing your natural beauty and using make-up for fun and not to hide with is what it means for me. I make time in my morning to enjoy putting on my make-up since I enjoy doing it so much. If I felt like it I could do everything within 5 minutes but I hate doing that, I rather take my time and be able to play around and relax while doing it.

If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?
Moisturizer, mascara, lip balm, foundation

What is your favourite thing about makeup?
How it can make you so happy and girly at the same time! Its a great source of retail therapy and is something you can bond over with any girl friend. It is something that your typical guy will never understand and that we can embrace among ourselves. I believe it brings girls together into a positive community where they can be accepted for themselves.

What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?
There are pros and cons about the two of them. Every girl enjoys her high end make-up but it is a splurge of money that you should only do it you can afford to do so. As well as make sure you know what brand to seek out and what type of products you are willing to spend the extra cash for.
High end :
Better formulation
Higher cost
Longer wear

Drugstore:
Affordable
Great dupes of high end products are available
Better pigmentation of colors in some cases

What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?
Start with your basics, find a guru on Youtube or on Blogger that you enjoy and follow along with their tips. Drugstore brands are a must until you can find what you are looking for within high end make-up. Always read labels and make sure you are benefiting your personal skin type. You are an unique individual and you need to play with your features that you like the most and create whatever type of looks you are willing to try out.

What is one makeup trend you never understood?
Crazy amounts of black eyeliner or really thin eyebrows that look like they have been drawn and/or have been actually drawn on. :/

♥ What do you think of the Beauty Community on Youtube/Blogger?
I think the beauty community on Youtube is great and I want to eventually start making my own videos and joining them. Yes there are girls on there that are fake and I can't stand them but at the same time there are gurus that truly love making videos and put their heart into making them. I learn new tips and tricks from these types of people on there and that's what makes me want to eventually start doing as well. On Blogger I think the beauty community is also great because you can write up reviews and post links to things as easily as Youtube, it is a bit less personal because you don't have the same type of interaction yet it is as helpful and fun to read and make blogs as well.

 Who is your style icon?

Katy Perry
